چکیده

Distributed e-business application platforms such as the web services framework will require sophisticated workload management infrastructures for the matching of client requests to the most appropriate resources. This paper introduces a novel dynamic predictive framework that uses both historical data and analytical performance modelling to extrapolate a request’s predicted performance under varying workloads and conditions on different systems. Such a framework can facilitate a workload manager in maximising the extent to which service level agreements can be met. An e-business benchmark is used to demonstrate how predictions can be used to efficiently distribute clients across heterogeneous servers whilst meeting response time goals.

Workload Adaptation in Autonomic Database Management Systems

Workload adaptation is a performance management process in which an autonomic database management system (DBMS) efficiently makes use of its resources by filtering or controlling the workload presented to it in order to meet its Service Level Objectives (SLOs). It is a challenge to adapt multiple workloads with complex resource requirements towards their performance goals while taking their bus...

Self-Learning Prediction System for Optimisation of Workload Management in a Mainframe Operating System

We present a framework for extraction and prediction of online workload data from a workload manager of a mainframe operating system. To boost overall system performance, the prediction will be incorporated into the workload manager to take preventive action before a bottleneck develops. Model and feature selection automatically create a prediction model based on given training data, thereby ke...
